Health and wellbeing board

The Health and Social Care Act 2012 established health and wellbeing boards as a forum where leaders across the health and social care system work together to:

  • Improve the health and wellbeing of the people in their area
  • Reduce health inequalities
  • Promote the integration of services

Chaired by the council's cabinet member for adult social care and health, with the chair of Rotherham's clinical commissioning group as vice chair, the health and wellbeing board brings together senior NHS and social care specialists with representatives from South Yorkshire Police, Healthwatch Rotherham and Voluntary Action Rotherham.

An essential task for the board is to develop and oversee a health and wellbeing strategy, which provides the overarching framework for NHS, social care and public health commissioning plans, and informs other relevant areas such as education, housing and planning.

Community safety partnership

Safer Rotherham Partnership (SRP) is the borough's community safety partnership with statutory responsibilities established under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. It is chaired by the council’s cabinet member for waste, roads and community safety.

The partnership has a legal responsibility to tackle crime, anti-social behaviour and drug and alcohol misuse, and to enhance feelings of safety. As well as the council and South Yorkshire Police, the partnership includes senior representatives from: South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, South Yorkshire Probation, South Yorkshire Community Rehabilitation Company, Voluntary Action Rotherham, Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group and South Yorkshire Police & Crime Commissioner's Office.

The SRP plan for 2016-19 is particularly focused on: child sexual exploitation, cohesion, domestic abuse, anti-social behaviour, domestic burglary, and violent crime and sexual offences.

Children and young people’s partnership

Chaired by the council’s deputy leader, the partnership brings together representatives from a wide range of organisations working to improve services and outcomes for children, young people and families in Rotherham.  The partnership is overseeing delivery of the children and young people’s plan, which sets out actions relating to the partnership’s agreed priority outcomes:

  • Children and young people are healthy and safe from harm
  • Children and young people start school ready to learn for life
  • Children, young people and their families are ready for the world of work

Business growth board

Rotherham's business growth board was established in 2015, evolving from the previous economy board, to drive forward progress in pursuing Rotherham's economic priorities through delivery of the borough's economic growth plan.

Chaired by a local business person and with a majority of private sector members, the board provides leadership on issues of key economic significance to the borough and provides a link to Sheffield city region's local enterprise partnership.

Strategic housing forum

Meeting quarterly and chaired by the council’s assistant director for housing and neighbourhood services, the forum aims to identify opportunities for joint working on cross-cutting issues and to ensure that Rotherham is delivering on national and regional housing agendas.  It also facilitates partner and stakeholder engagement in the development of RMBC housing strategies and policies.

The forum’s members include representatives from housing associations, health services, the police, voluntary and community organisations and various council services involved in housing.

Building stronger communities forum

Leading on delivery of the Rotherham Plan’s building stronger communities game changer, this new body brings together statutory partners and community representatives to address issues relating to cohesion and social inclusion.

Ambition Rotherham place board

The Ambition Rotherham place board aims to promote and market the borough regionally, nationally and internationally, promoting Rotherham’s many assets and helping to attract investment.

The board is private sector-led and oversees the Pioneer programme - a network of local business people who act as champions and ambassadors for Rotherham.

Integrated health and social care place (IH&SC) board

The IH&SC place board brings together partners from across the health and social care system to jointly plan service delivery in a way that improves patient experience and clinical outcomes, whilst delivering essential savings.

Co-chaired by the council chief executive and the chief officer of Rotherham’s clinical commissioning group, the board will focus on delivery of Rotherham’s IH&SC place plan, reporting back to the health and wellbeing board.
