Let's get Rotherham cleaning

Clean for The Queen 2016

Clean for The Queen is a national campaign to clean up Britain in time for the Queen's 90th birthday, which will be officially celebrated in June 2016. The campaign has been launched by Country Life magazine in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy. Clean for The Queen was launched on the weekend of March 4-6, with volunteers across the country encouraged to clean up their local areas.

The Campaign in Rotherham – Let’s Get Rotherham Cleaning

The Views from Rotherham consultation held in 2015 highlighted that local people want Rotherham to be a place which is ‘tidy with clean streets and well-maintained parks and green spaces’ along with ‘a safe and welcoming town centre’. Clean for The Queen provides a great opportunity to contribute to this priority. Chief Officers of the main local agencies and organisations are supporting the campaign.

Rotherham MBC will be leading the local effort through its Streetpride service which will target some neighbourhoods for a clean-up on the launch weekend. Streetpride will also support groups, businesses and individuals across the borough to get involved in cleaning up their local area. The first of these was in Rotherham town centre on April 23-24. Streetpride supply pickers and gloves for clean ups and collect bagged waste at the end of events.

A task group made up of businesses, public agencies and voluntary organisations will focus their efforts on cleaning up Rotherham town centre and making other environmental improvements.

  • Look at how future activity can be sustained
